Which Miller Edge Sensing Edge Do I Need?

Miller Edge sensing edges are custom manufactured, non-returnable, and built to your exact specification. Choosing the right model starts with a measurement, not a part number. This guide walks through it.

Sectional Doors — Match to Door Thickness

Specialty doors: ME116 is designed for specific Arm-R-Lite, CHI, Clopay and Haas doors. ME117 is designed for TNR doors. Confirm with your door manufacturer.

Rolling Steel Doors — Match to the Bottom Bar

MT21 vs MT22: both fit 2-inch double-angle bottom bars. MT21 has a 1″ body, MT22 a 2″ body for better floor contact. MT33 suits 3-inch bars.

Gates — Standard Protection

For edges mounted on one face of the gate or post.

Gates — 3-Sided Protection

Wraps the post to detect contact from three directions. Maximum length 10 feet; do not bend.

How to Measure

• Sectional door — measure the width of a sectional panel.
• Rolling steel door — measure from the tip of one guide to the tip of the opposite guide, then subtract 2 inches so the active edge does not rub on the guides.
• Gate, mounted horizontally — measure the width of the gate, subtracting for post caps.
• Gate, mounted vertically — measure the full height of the gate post, subtracting for post caps. Not required to exceed 6 feet.

Order in 1/4 inch increments. Manufacturing tolerance is ±1/4 inch.

Monitored or Non-Monitored?

• Doors — choose monitored if your operator was manufactured after August 2010 and monitored photo optics are not installed.
• Gates — choose monitored if your operator was manufactured after January 2016.
• Choose non-monitored if monitored photo optics are already installed, or for older operators.

Gate Operator Modules

Some gate operators need a module between the sensing edge and the controller. Match to your operator brand:

Operators including AutoGate, B&B ARMR, BFT, DoorKing, GTO/Linear, Power Master, VE Power, Rotary, Torxun, USAutomatic and Viking take a T2 (10K) edge with no module required.

For a wireless installation, no module is needed — use the RBand monitored wireless gate edge system with a T2 edge.

Door Operator Modules

For doors, T2 (10K) edges on most brands require an SM-102 signature module. T3 (diode capacitor) edges on Overhead Door and Genie operators require an SM-101.
