Sliding Gate Hardware — Wheels, Rollers, Chain and Catches
Replacement hardware for sliding, rolling and roller gates — the wheels the gate rides on, the guide rollers that keep it upright, the catch it lands in, and the roller chain that drives it. Everything below is stocked and sized. If you are replacing one worn part, match the size you have; if you are building or rehanging a gate, work down the list in order.
The Parts of a Sliding Gate, and What Each One Is Called
Most sliding gate problems come down to five components. Knowing the right name for each makes the part far easier to find.

| Track | rail, V-track, pipe track | The steel the wheels run on. V-groove wheels run on inverted angle iron; pipe track wheels run on round schedule 40 pipe. Track is normally cut and welded on site, not bought as a kit. |
| Guide roller | guide post roller, gate guide | Mounted on a post either side of the gate. Stops the gate leaning off the track. Usually fitted in pairs. |
| Gate catch | end catch, gate catcher, end stop | Receives the leading edge of the gate at the closed position and takes the side load off the wheels. |
| Drive chain | roller chain, gate chain | Runs from the operator sprocket to a chain bolt at each end of the gate. Sized by pitch — #40 and #41 are the common ones. |
| Chain bolt | chain bracket, chain anchor | Bolts through the gate frame and anchors each end of the drive chain. |
V-Groove Wheels
Match the wheel diameter to the one you are replacing, and the material to the load. UHMW polyurethane runs quieter and will not rust; steel carries more weight and lasts longer on heavily used commercial gates.

Wheels come as the wheel, or as an assembly. A bare wheel replaces a worn roller on an axle you already have. An assembly includes the axle and mounting plates and is what you want if the bracket is rusted through or you are hanging a new gate.
Guide Rollers
Fitted to the posts either side of the gate to keep it vertical. Choose the length by how far the roller has to reach the gate frame, and the colour to suit the gate. Order in pairs.

Drive Chain and Master Links
Match the chain pitch to your operator's sprocket. Nickel plated resists corrosion in wet or coastal installs; stainless is for the harshest sites. Every chain run needs a master link to join it, and a chain bolt at each end of the gate.

Common Sliding Gate Problems and the Parts That Fix Them
