Ball Bearing Barrel Hinges

Weld-on barrel hinges with ball bearings, for steel gates and posts. The gap figure is an offset — the distance the hinge sets the gate frame off the post.

Weld-On Butt Hinges — Sold by the Pair

The standard hinge for fabricated steel gates. One pair hangs one gate leaf. Plain steel for painting on site; zinc plated or stainless for gates that stay bare or live near the coast. Thickness is the leaf gauge.

Tear Drop (Bullet) Hinges — Sold by the Pair

Tear drop hinges weld to the edge of an ornamental iron gate and post. Choose by overall length; the GF models have a grease fitting so the pin can be lubricated in place. Economy JSTD and heavy duty FES series share the same sizes.

All three use double 5/8" ball bearings and a 3/4" solid stainless steel shaft, ground and tempered, with self-lubricating operation and no grease fittings. What separates them is the material — and with it, the weight they carry. Each is sold as one pair, which is one gate leaf; a bi-parting pair of gates needs two sets.

Pivot hinges with sealed bearings for round or square gate frames. Each includes its mounting bracket and hardware, and two are required per gate.

For gates that must rise as they open, or that need a low-friction pivot under continuous load.

Working out your lift. Measure the rise across the gate's swing arc, not the slope of the whole driveway. SWG606 gives up to 15% lift; if your ground rises more than that through the arc, the gate needs regrading or a different opening design rather than a taller hinge.
