Using a Video Intercom with a Gate Operator
Aiphone masters and IP door stations have a door release contact. Wire that contact to an electric strike, a maglock relay, or the open input on your gate operator, and the release button opens the gate. Check the contact rating in the manual and use a relay if your operator or lock needs more than the contact can switch.
Distance matters at a driveway gate. JO Series door stations run up to 330 ft from the monitor on 2-conductor cable. For longer runs, or sites that already have a network, IX Series door stations run on PoE over Cat5e/6 and can be extended with network switches.
Weather and vandal resistance. For a gate pedestal or a post at the street, pick a die-cast or stainless door station: the JO-DV, JP-DV, IX-DV or IX-DVF.

Video Intercom FAQ
Can I answer the gate from my phone? Yes. The JO Series kits (JOS-1VW, JOS-1AW) ring up to 8 smartphones or tablets through Aiphone's app, and the IX / IXG Series supports mobile apps too.
Does the intercom still work if the internet goes down? JO and JP systems are hardwired, so the inside monitor keeps working without internet. Only the app needs a connection.
