LiftMaster 4690L — the Premium Series heavy-duty DC chain drive garage door opener on the I-beam rail, for heavy wood, insulated and oversize doors up to 14 ft tall. Battery backup, a 2,000-lumen 360° ring LED, the 360° swivel camera with night vision, and myQ built in over Wi-Fi. It replaces the 87802 (and the 85870 chain drive) on the Security+ 3.0 radio with the white learn button, with a lifetime motor and chain warranty. Supplied as the head unit with the I-beam rail chosen to door height, 7 to 14 ft; two remotes in the box.
When the 4690L is the right opener. A one-piece or heavy carriage-style wood door, an insulated steel double, an RV door at 12 or 14 ft, or a door that a belt drive has already struggled with. For an ordinary sectional door the 6580L or 6690L belt drives are quieter and cheaper.

Common questions
Is the rail included?
No. LiftMaster ships the 4690L as the head unit; the rail is matched to the door height. Choose the door height above or order the rail separately from the table on this page. If you are replacing a same-drive LiftMaster from the last few years, the rail already up can normally stay.
Do my old remotes work?
Not the Security+ 2.0 ones (893LM, 893MAX, 877 keypads). Security+ 3.0 remotes are the L99x series; the L992U universal works on both generations.
What is HPs?
LiftMaster's comparison figure. DC motor lift capacity is not measured in horsepower; the HPs number tells you which AC opener it is equivalent to.
Does the camera need a subscription?
Live view and two-way audio are free in the myQ app. Recording and 7- or 30-day video history need a myQ Video Storage subscription.
Can I fit the 841LM automatic lock?
The 87802 it replaces was lock-capable. Ask us before ordering the lock for a 4690L — we will confirm the terminals on the current 030DCT board revision.
Why an I-beam rail?
The I-beam does not flex under a heavy door the way a T-rail can, and it is the only LiftMaster residential rail made in 12 and 14 ft lengths.
