LiftMaster 6690L — the Premium Series 1-1/4 HPs DC belt drive garage door opener: LiftMaster's strongest belt drive, with battery backup, a 2,000-lumen 360° ring LED, the 360° swivel camera with night vision, and myQ built in over Wi-Fi. It replaces the 87504-267 and 85870 on the Security+ 3.0 radio with the white learn button, and carries a lifetime motor and belt warranty. Ultra-quiet, soft start and stop, PosiLock, timer-to-close, Alert-2-Close, HomeLink compatible. Supplied as the head unit with the belt rail chosen to door height; two remotes and a wireless keypad in the box.
6690L or 6580L? Both are belt drives on the same rails. The 6690L brings the 1-1/4 HPs motor for heavy or insulated doors, the brighter ring LED, two remotes plus the keypad, and the lifetime warranty. The 6580L is the lighter-duty version at a lower price. For doors over 10 ft or a heavy one-piece door, the 4690L chain drive on the I-beam rail.

Common questions
Is the rail included?
No. LiftMaster ships the 6690L as the head unit; the rail is matched to the door height. Choose the door height above or order the rail separately from the table on this page. If you are replacing a same-drive LiftMaster from the last few years, the rail already up can normally stay.
Do my old remotes work?
Not the Security+ 2.0 ones (893LM, 893MAX, 877 keypads). Security+ 3.0 remotes are the L99x series; the L992U universal works on both generations.
What is HPs?
LiftMaster's comparison figure. DC motor lift capacity is not measured in horsepower; the HPs number tells you which AC opener it is equivalent to.
Does the camera need a subscription?
Live view and two-way audio are free in the myQ app. Recording and 7- or 30-day video history need a myQ Video Storage subscription.
Is a 1-1/4 HPs opener overkill on a normal door?
Not really — it runs the same door with less strain, which is what the lifetime warranty is built on. It is the right choice where the door is insulated, wood or over 16 ft wide.
