Yellow learn button? Order the L979M instead. The L979S talks Bluetooth only, so it will not program to a Security+ 2.0 (yellow), Security+ (purple, red/orange) or green-button opener. Common questions
L979S or L979M on a new 6580L / 6690L?
Both work. The L979S is the lower-cost choice if every opener you want the keypad to run is a white-button model. Buy the L979M if there is an older opener on the same driveway or you may move the keypad to one later.
Can I set it up without the app?
Yes — the leaflet covers programming from the learn button. The app adds guest PINs that expire, access history and low-battery alerts.
Does it replace the 877LM?
Only on a white-button opener. The 877LM was a Security+ 2.0 keypad; the openers it fitted have yellow buttons and take the L979M.
What battery does it take?
One 9 V alkaline, included.
