Genuine LiftMaster 041-0136 safety sensor kit — the current replacement for the 041A5034 / 41A5034 photo eyes fitted to LiftMaster, Chamberlain and Craftsman garage door openers from 1997 onward. One sending eye (amber LED), one receiving eye (green LED), two-conductor wire, wire nuts and the mounting hardware. The eyes are the reversing safety device the opener checks before every close: when they are misaligned, dirty or dead the door will not close from the remote and only creeps down while the wall button is held.
Brackets. The 041-0136 eyes clamp to the bracket by the head of a carriage bolt — they have no bolt hole through them like the old 41A5034. On an opener that had the older eyes, order the 041-0155-000 bracket pair with the kit; on 2021-and-later openers the brackets already fit. Extension brackets for a wall-mount installation are the 041A5281-1.
Three ways to buy these eyes.
This page is the genuine LiftMaster eye kit, no brackets. If your brackets are bent, rusted or missing, the 041-0365-000 includes eyes and brackets together. If you want the cheapest working pair and your brackets are fine, there is an aftermarket eye kit — non-OEM, not made by LiftMaster, but a matched sending and receiving pair that fits the same 1997-to-current openers.

Are the eyes actually the problem?
Nine sensor complaints in ten are alignment or wiring. Check before you order:
| Symptom | Check first |
|---|---|
| Door will not close from the remote, closes with the wall button held | The eyes: an LED off or blinking means blocked, misaligned or a broken wire. Fix that before buying anything |
| Both LEDs steady, still will not close | The wire run — staples through the insulation, or the terminals at the opener — then the eyes |
| Sending eye dead, receiving eye lit | Wire to the sending eye, then the sending eye |
| Works at night, fails in afternoon sun | Sun in the receiving eye. Fit the sun hoods or swap the eyes so the receiver faces away from the sun |
| Eyes fine, opener still flashes 1-1 or 1-2 | Reversed or shorted sensor wires at the opener (1-2); reseat and check polarity |
| Eyes fine, no click when the remote is pressed | The logic board or the remote, not the eyes |
Fitting
Unplug the opener. Mount both eyes no more than 6 in above the floor, facing each other across the opening, and wire them to the two sensor terminals on the opener (white and white-with-black). Plug in, and adjust until both LEDs are steady — the receiving eye's green LED flickers until the beam is aligned. Then run the reversal test.
