DoorKing 1835 Telephone Entry System — 3,000 Resident Capacity

The DoorKing 1835 is a telephone entry and access control system for apartment complexes, gated communities, office buildings and industrial sites — anywhere with a large number of users and more than one entry point. It holds 3,000 names and numbers, interfaces with up to 16 card readers, and adds elevator control and anti-pass back on top of straightforward telephone entry.

The single-line LCD uses half-inch characters so it reads at a distance, and your own message scrolls across it when the system is idle. The One Touch CALL button makes it one of the simplest systems on the market for a visitor to use.

What separates the 1835 from the 1834

Both hold 3,000 numbers. The 1835 adds the things a larger or more security-conscious property needs:

FeatureWhy it matters
Up to 16 card readers One system covers the vehicle gate, pedestrian gates, the pool, the gym and the parking structure — not just the front entrance
Anti-pass back Stops one credential being handed back through the gate to let a second car in. Passive, active or trap configurations.
Elevator control Restricts which floors a resident or guest can reach — the standard requirement in a high rise
31 security levels Different permissions for residents, staff, contractors and guests
Live monitoring Watch entries as they happen on a computer, over RS-232

If you need telephone entry and two gates and nothing more, the 1834 does that for less.

Common questions

How many residents can it hold? 3,000 names and numbers. Size for growth — running out of directory capacity means replacing the unit, not upgrading it.

How many card readers? Two as standard, expandable to 16 with tracker expansion boards. That is what makes the 1835 suit a property with multiple controlled points rather than a single entrance.

What is anti-pass back? It stops the same credential being used twice in a row to enter without an intervening exit — the classic case being someone handing their card back through the gate. Three configurations: passive logs it, active blocks it, trap holds the user until an administrator clears them.

Can I control elevator floors? Yes, with the optional elevator control module. Standard requirement in a high rise.

Can I manage it remotely? Yes. PC programmable over the internet, modem or RS-232, with Remote Account Manager included. Add and revoke access without visiting the site.

Does it need a phone line? No. Cellular, VoIP, ethernet and wireless are all supported.

Does it do video? No, the 1835 is audio telephone entry with card access. For video calling see the 2112 eVolve.

Surface, flush or wall mount? All three — specify when ordering. Stainless steel is available on surface mount only. Flush mount needs a rough-in box built into the structure.

Will it work with my existing gate operator? Yes. Dry contact output, accepted by any gate operator whatever the brand.
