DoorKing 2112 eVolve Video Entry System — Smart Video Intercom (2112-081)

The DoorKing 2112 eVolve is a cloud-based video entry system that lets you see and speak to visitors on your smartphone, wherever you are. Built-in IP camera, two-way video calling, and programming from any browser. This is the current model with the updated camera style — it replaces the older 2112-080.

A monthly DoorKing cloud service subscription is required. The 2112 is a connected product — the app, the video and the cloud programming all depend on it. Factor that into the running cost before you commit. If you would rather have no monthly fee, the 1812 Plus on a standard phone line has none.

Ethernet or cellular?

Ethernet is the default and the better option if you can get it. Hardwire the unit to your router using your existing internet — more reliable than a radio link, and no cellular airtime cost on top of the cloud subscription. If you already have conduit to the gate, run cat cable while it is open.

Cellular is for gates with no practical cable run. Two options:

KitUse it when
2112-150 Internal dongle — adequate signal at the gate
2112-152 External kit — weak signal, a metal enclosure, or a flush-mount installation

Check coverage before you order cellular. Signal at the gate is often worse than at the house, especially behind trees or below grade. If it is marginal, go external or go ethernet.

Best for

High-end residential properties and luxury homes · gated communities and HOA entrances · smart home and smart access upgrades · anywhere you want to see who is at the gate before you let them in.

Already have an 1812?

You do not have to redo the installation. The upgrade kits reuse your existing enclosure, post and conduit — you are changing the electronics, not digging up the driveway.

Common questions

Is there a monthly fee? Yes. The 2112 needs a DoorKing cloud service subscription for the app, video and programming. If you want no monthly cost, an 1812 on a phone line is the alternative — audio only, but nothing to pay after purchase.

Do I need internet at the gate? Either an ethernet run from your router, or a cellular kit. Ethernet is more reliable and cheaper to run.

How many households can it serve? Up to 10, with 4 numbers each. For anything larger, see DoorKing commercial phone entry, where capacity runs to 1,000 and 3,000 numbers.

Can it ring more than one phone? Yes — broadcast calling rings up to 4 phones at once, so whoever is free picks up.

Can I control a pedestrian gate as well? Yes. Three relays, so up to three entry points from one unit.

What is the difference between the 2112-081 and the 2112-080? The 2112-081 is the current model with the updated camera style. It replaces the 2112-080.

Will it open my existing gate operator? Yes. Dry contact output — any gate operator will accept it, whatever the brand.

What post do I need? 1200-045 for a concrete pad, 1200-046 gooseneck for setting into ground.
