Description

Genuine Genie 37220R Safe-T-Beam safety sensor kit (model GSTB; dealer pack GSTB-BX, retail GSTB-R / STB-BL, also 37334R) — the source and receiver photo eye pair with brackets and hardware for every Genie and Overhead Door opener that uses Safe-T-Beam, which is all of them from 1995 on. When the red LED on the receiver eye blinks, the door reverses from the floor, or the opener lights flash and will not close, this is the fix. Replaces the 34094R, 35048R, 305048R and 37334R kits.

Before you order: a Safe-T-Beam that is knocked out of line, sitting in direct sun, or wired with a corroded splice gives the same symptoms as a dead one. Wipe the lenses, check that both LEDs are steady (green on the source, red on the receiver), and re-aim. If the red LED still blinks with the lenses clean and the wires sound, replace the pair — they are sold as a matched set for a reason.

Common questions

Can I replace just one eye?
Genie sells them as a pair and the pair is what we stock. A mismatched single eye from another kit generation is the usual cause of a "new sensor still blinking" call.

Which side is which?
The source (green LED) goes on one side, the receiver (red LED) on the other; either side of the door. Aim them at each other until the red LED is steady.

The opener flashes and will not close but the beams look fine.
Check the wire run for staples through the insulation and splices, then swap the pair. Sun on the receiver lens at certain hours will also do it — move the receiver to the shaded side.

Correct Replacement Photo Eye - YAY!

We have a Genie garage door opener that's about 2 years old. One of the photo eyes failed and replacements were not available in our city. We ordered these eyes, which are supposed to fit all recent Genie products and they worked perfectly! The product number shown is a kit containing two matching photo eyes with mounting hardware. We were thrilled!

I haven't installed the sensors yet but the experience of ordering them on the computer was very smooth./A nice lady helped me and guided me to the ones that were appropriate for my garage door opener. They arrived nicely shipped in a bubble wrap envelope. Thank you.

Do it yourself replacement Genie Photo eye

The photo cells worked first time out of the box. Installation was smooth. Glad I tried to do it myself after an unscrupulous national door installation Co. tried to rip me off by saying replacement parts were not available for my model and wanted to sell me a complete new opener and system.
