Genuine LiftMaster K1D8388-1CC main control board — the UL325 board for LiftMaster’s linear actuator (arm-type) swing gate operators built from 2016 on: the LA400U / LA400UL, LA412U / LA412UL and LA500U / LA500UL, and the LA400PKGU(L), LA412PKGU(L) and LA500PKGU(L) packages built around them. One board serves all three. LiftMaster now supplies it as kit K1D8388-1CCMC.
How to identify it. The label reads K1D8388-1CC or K1D8388-1CCMC. The sticker on the circuit board itself often reads 001D9040-1CC (also written K1D9040-1CC) — that is the board’s own number, not something you can order. Either means this is the right board.
Two look-alikes to avoid. K1D8052-1CC is the earlier, pre-UL325 board for the same arm operators. K1D8389-1CC is the UL325 board for the pad-mount operators (RSL12U, RSW12U, CSL24U, CSW24U), not the arm operators. Read the number on your board before ordering.

Which board does my operator take?
Each arm operator family has gone through three boards. The one you need depends on the generation, not the model name on the arm — open the control box and read the board.
| Operator | Original | Second generation | UL325 (2016 on) |
|---|---|---|---|
| LA400 family | K001A6039 — LA400, metal box | K1D8052-1CC — LA400DC | K1D8388-1CC — LA400U, LA400UL |
| LA412 family | K001A6426-1 — LA412, metal box | K1D8052-1CC — LA412DC | K1D8388-1CC — LA412U, LA412UL |
| LA500 family | K1D7545CC — LA500, no longer available | K1D8052-1CC — LA500, LA500DC | K1D8388-1CC — LA500U, LA500UL |
Dual-gate installations. The board connects to the secondary arm through a plug-in terminal. If the old plug is damaged or missing, order the K023B0556-6 arm terminal plug (sold in packs of four) with the board.
Upgrading an older arm operator to UL325? LiftMaster’s K1D8388-1CCUMC kit bundles this board with monitored photo eyes. UL325 requires monitored entrapment protection, so a bare board on an unprotected site will not put the gate back in service.
Parts that go with this board
| Part | Notes |
|---|---|
| K1D8387-1CC expansion board | UL325 expansion board for the added inputs — loops, extra safety devices, accessories |
| K75-36635 mounting bracket | Board mounting bracket |
| Reset switch with ID resistor | The reset switch carries the operator ID: K94-36408-2 (LA400), K94-36408-3 (LA412), K94-36408-1 (LA500) |
| Plastic control box, U models | K74-36798-5 (LA400U), K74-36798-6 (LA412U), K74-36798-4 (LA500U) |
| Plastic control box, UL models | K74-39307-2 (LA400UL), K74-39307-3 (LA412UL), K74-39307-1 (LA500UL) |
| Batteries | Two 29-NP712 12V 7AH batteries, or the pre-wired pair K74-30762 |
| Radio | K77-36541 antenna, K001A5747 receiver module |
Is the board actually the problem?
On these operators the board is the most expensive part in the box and often not the fault. Check these first.
| Symptom | Check first |
|---|---|
| Gate slows, stops partway, reverses on its own, or dies in a power cut | The batteries. These operators run off the batteries; the transformer only charges them. Replace both 29-NP712 at the same time |
| Operator completely dead, no lights on the board | Transformer and receptacle before the board — on the LA500 the LA500HDTKITSTD transformer kit |
| Display shows the wrong operator type after fitting | The reset switch and its ID resistor (K94-36408-2, K94-36408-3 or K94-36408-1), not the board |
| Gate will not reset after an obstruction | The reset switch |
| No response to remotes, wired controls work | The K77-36541 antenna or K001A5747 receiver module |
| Loops or accessories not responding | The K1D8387-1CC expansion board, then the loop detector |
| Arm hums but the gate does not move | The actuator arm, not the board |
| Burnt smell, scorching or a bulged capacitor on this board | This board — replace it |
After fitting
The new board arrives unprogrammed. Set the travel limits and force, relearn every remote and transmitter, and re-enter timer, loop and accessory settings. Re-test every entrapment protection device to UL325 before returning the gate to service.
Fit surge protection at the same time. Storm damage is a leading cause of gate operator board failure. If this board died after a storm, the replacement is at the same risk unless the installation is protected.
Common questions
My board says 001D9040-1CC. Is this the right one? Yes — that number is on the sticker of the K1D8388-1CC.
Will it fit my LA500 or LA412DC? No. Those take the K1D8052-1CC. This board is for the U and UL generations only.
Is it the same board on the LA400UL, LA412UL and LA500UL? Yes. The control box, reset switch and batteries differ by model; see the table above.
Is this genuine? Yes, genuine LiftMaster OEM.
