LiftMaster 1270, 1280 and 1280R Replacement Parts
The 1270, 1280 and 1280R are the Formula 1 Whisper Drive belt drive openers — 1/2 HP units built around the older 12 rib belt. Everything for these openers is on this page: the motor unit, the belts, the safety sensors, the door hardware, the wall control and the remote. Each section has its own diagram, and the reference numbers are specific to the diagram directly above them.
Ordering a belt? The belt is sized to your door height, not your rail. These three openers use the 12 rib 41A3589 belt, stocked in factory and lower cost aftermarket versions. See the belt table below, or use the full LiftMaster belt selector if you are not sure which you need.

041A2817 is called out twice, at 03 and at 18. It is the same gear kit either way. Refs 05 and 06 — the wire harness and the receiver logic boards — are no longer manufactured and cannot be ordered.
2. Belts
These openers take the 12 rib 41A3589 belt. Measure your door opening height, not the rail. We stock the genuine LiftMaster belt and a lower cost aftermarket belt built to the same length, rib pitch and end fittings.

Superseded part numbers
The current eyes and brackets replace every earlier version, so there is no need to match your old part number — order the current part. If you have an older number written down, this is what it becomes.

Remote controls
Every original remote for these openers is discontinued. The 893MAX is the universal replacement and works with all the older LiftMaster, Chamberlain and Craftsman openers. It covers 371LM, 971LM, 973LM and 893LM, and is the listed substitute for 81LM, 83LM, 63LM, 753CB, 850CB, 853CB, 953CB, 953EV and Craftsman 53680, 53859 and 53879. Wall controls — superseded part numbers
There are two replacements, split by the age of your opener. For pre-1998 units — which includes the 1270, 1280 and 1280R — order the 041C0494-2. For 1998 and newer units, order the 889LM. Not sure which you have? Call (866) 965-5599 and we will check it with you.
