Is your logic board the problem?

The logic board is the opener’s brain — it reads the limits, the safety inputs and the radio, then drives the motor. It is also frequently blamed for faults it did not cause, so work through this before ordering.

Symptom	Likely cause
Opener dead, no lights, no response from anything	Power first — breaker, outlet, then the board
Runs one direction only	Often the board, but check the limits and the safety sensors first
Will not close, reverses on the way down	Safety sensors, not the board. Check the LEDs on both eyes.
Wall button works, remote does not	The receiver half of the board, or a remote that needs reprogramming
Resets or reboots mid-cycle	The board, or a supply voltage problem feeding it
Motor hums but the door does not move	Capacitor or drivetrain, not the board
Burnt smell, visible scorching or a bulged capacitor on the board	The board, definitively

Order by the number printed on the board, not by your opener model. Boards changed several times within the same model run, so two openers with identical model numbers on the cover can take different boards. Take the cover off and read the part number on the board itself.

After fitting

A replacement logic board arrives unprogrammed. You will need to reprogram every remote and keypad, and reset the travel limits and force settings before the door will work correctly. Budget twenty minutes for that, not two.

Will this fit my opener? Check the number printed on your existing board against the part number above. If it matches, or matches one of the alternate numbers listed, it fits. If you cannot read it, send us a photo.

Do I have to reprogram my remotes? Yes. A new board has an empty radio memory. Reprogram each remote and keypad after fitting.

Is this genuine? Yes, genuine OEM. Aftermarket logic boards exist but fitment and firmware behaviour vary, and a board is not the place to economise.

Do I need to reset the limits? Yes, travel limits and force settings after any board replacement.

My opener is a Chamberlain / Craftsman. LiftMaster, Chamberlain and Sears Craftsman share the same platform, so the same boards fit across all three where the part number matches.

you could include more detailed instructions for first timers-- there two separate adjustments-one for upper and lower limits -one for "force" which I found out is the power to raise and lower too little power to open and it wouldnt go all the way to the limit

The controlboard arrived as promised in good condition. Although packaging was not protective enough. The replacement went straightforward and normal operation of the garage door is restored.

Was hesitant at first, but considering it was much less work and more than half the cost of replacing entire garage door opener, I'd take the chance. (App. $90. Including shipping) Part arrived in half the estimated time. Ordered from Md and arrived from California in 2 days.
Symptom was that I could tap the side of the opener and get it to work (logic board side), but kept malfunctioning intermittently thereafter.
Very easy swap. I had previous to ordering, searched for obvious problem on board to no avail.
When new board arrived, took litterally 5 minutes to be back to working properly.
Great purchase and happy with product.

I purchased the part used, working condition from an internet auction site, but it did not function as promised. The unit from Gatehouse Supplies was the correct part for the job and functioned perfectly after installation. I will not hesitate to purchase parts from Gatehouse Supplies in the future.

Logic Board on my garage door went. Located part in manual and Gatehouse had it at a fair price. Part arrived as advertised. Instructions were easy to follow and repair was complete in 20 minutes. $75 do-it-yourself sure beats a $300 repair bill.

Kept the paperwork from when it was installed and read the instructions for trouble shooting, the led light was blinking 5 times lndicating that the logic board was faulty and it was. The logic board came well packaged and was a snap to install.
