LiftMaster 370LM 371LM 373LM 374LM Remotes

LiftMaster 370LM, 371LM, 372LM, 373LM & 374LM Remotes

The 37xLM series is LiftMaster's 315 MHz purple learn button generation, sold through the 2000s on residential garage door openers and gate operators. Most of the original part numbers are now discontinued, but every one has a direct replacement that works on the same opener. Find your old number in the table below and order what replaces it.

Holding a 371LM or 373LM? You do not need to replace your opener. These are all 315 MHz purple learn button remotes and current equivalents program to the same unit in about thirty seconds.

One remote for everything: the 893MAX. It is tri-band across 310, 315 and 390 MHz, so it covers purple, red/orange, green and yellow learn button openers alike. If your property has more than one opener, or you have no working remote left to learn from, this is the one to get.

Check your learn button before you order

The 37xLM series is the purple generation. If yours is a different colour, you need a different remote — the radio formats do not cross over.

Receivers

A receiver lets a remote operate equipment that has no matching radio of its own, or adds 315 MHz capability to an opener that lacks it.

Universal remotes

The 374UT and 380UT are being phased out. For a purple learn button opener the 371LM or 893MAX is the better answer — and a universal needs a working remote to learn from, which the 893MAX does not. Use a universal only when the property runs non-LiftMaster equipment as well.

Programming a 315 MHz purple learn button remote

1. Find the purple learn button on the motor unit — usually beside the antenna wire, sometimes under the light lens.
2. Press and release it. The LED beside it comes on for about 30 seconds.
3. Within those 30 seconds, press the button on the new remote.
4. The opener light flashes or the unit clicks to confirm. Test the door.

To erase every remote from memory, press and hold the learn button until the LED goes out — around six seconds. That clears all of them, so reprogram every remote afterwards.

Common questions

My 371LM stopped working — do I need a new opener? No. Change the battery first. If that does not fix it, the 371LM aftermarket remote programs straight to the same opener.

What battery does a 371LM take? A 3V 10A20. Flat batteries are the most common cause of a remote that has "died".

Is the 373LM still made? Yes — we still stock the genuine 373LM. Order the same part number.

Can I mix old and new remotes on one opener? Yes, as long as they are all on the same frequency. A purple learn button opener will hold any mix of 315 MHz remotes.

My learn button is not purple. Then you do not have a 37xLM system. Check the colour table above — red or orange means the 97xLM series, yellow means Security+ 2.0.

The new remote programmed but the range is poor. Check the antenna wire hangs freely from the motor unit. If the opener is in a metal building, a 312HM coax receiver gets the antenna outside.
