Idler Wheel Assembly — 800-75-31

Two per operator. The idler wheels are the wear item — if the chain is chattering or the gate judders at speed, replace the wheels and bushings before anything else. The complete assembly is available as 800-75-31; the parts inside it are listed below.

Limit Shaft Assembly — 800-75-72

Carries the limit nuts that set open and close travel. Bearings and collars wear before the shaft does. The complete assembly is available as 800-75-72; the parts inside it are listed below.

Chain Release Assembly — 800-75-60

The emergency manual release. Lock removed, this frees the gate to be pushed by hand. The complete assembly is available as 800-75-60; the parts inside it are listed below.

Cover Assembly — 800-75-15

Chain Kit — 800-75-68

Common Ramset RAM 5000 Faults and the Parts That Fix Them

Gate runs, then stops a few feet in and reverses

The Electronic Reversing Device is reading resistance. Cheapest check first: clear the V-track and guide rollers, then look at the idler wheels — worn 800-73-71 wheels bind the chain and read as an obstruction. If the track is clean, the ERD sensitivity is set on the control board (rotary switch S8, or dip C7/C8).

Nothing lights up at all

Check the breaker, then the ½ amp fuse, then the transformer 800-60-01. If 18–24V is present at the board input and LED 1 is still dark, the 800-63-00 control board power supply has failed.

Gate opens but will not close automatically

Dip switch A1–3 sets the auto-close timer and all three off means disabled. If the timer is set and it still will not close, a safety input is stuck — watch LEDs 5 to 11 and disconnect accessories one at a time.

Gate overshoots or stops short of the limit

The limit nuts have walked on the shaft. That is the 800-75-72 limit shaft assembly — the 800-20-50 nuts and 800-70-10 collars are what slip. Also check the two 800-20-04 limit switches and the 800-52-20 limit chain for stretch.

Motor hums but the gate does not move

Belt first — 800-10-03 is a 4L-210 and it is the cheapest part on the operator. If the belt is good and tensioned, look at the 800-08-30 and 800-08-40 pulleys for a spun bore, then the 800-02-05 gear reducer.

Chain slaps or jumps the sprocket

Chain tension is set at the gate brackets in the 800-75-68 chain kit. If tension is right and it still jumps, the 800-06-05 40B21 drive sprocket is hooked and needs replacing along with the chain.
