The 3840 is a DC screw drive opener with battery backup. It differs from the earlier LiftMaster screw drives in several places — it uses a positioning sensor rather than an RPM sensor, and it has its own trolley assembly. Check the part numbers below rather than assuming a part from another screw drive fits.
Beeping, running slowly, or dead during a power cut? On a 3840 that is almost always just the backup battery. The G485LM 12V battery is the part, and it is the cheapest fix on this page. See section 2.

The 3840's trolley is the 041A6262 above — not the 041C4677 used on the older screw drives, which is discontinued in any case.
Parts we cannot supply for the 3840. Both logic boards are discontinued — the 41DS002-2 and the 390 MHz 041DS002-2-390 — and so are the line cord (41B135) and the drive belt (041B0024). Everything else on the diagram is available. If your board or drive belt has failed, call (866) 965-5599 before ordering anything else — we will tell you honestly whether the repair is worth doing, and you can see current replacement garage door openers if it is not.

| — | LMLED1 | Universal replacement LED bulb, vibration rated |
A backup battery that no longer holds charge is a consumable, not a fault — expect to replace it every few years. The opener will run normally on mains with a dead battery, it just will not work during an outage.

There are two racks at ref 04 — K081C0168 and K081C0275. Check the number on the one you are removing. A screw drive rail that binds or runs noisily usually just needs cleaning and re-greasing with the 83A11-2 above; strip the old hardened grease off first rather than adding to it.
