The Linear 661 is Nice's smart garage door opener head unit — a DC motor with integrated battery backup, WiFi and Bluetooth, LED lighting and app control. This is the head unit only, with no rail, chain or sprocket. It replaces a failed motor on an existing installation and reuses your current rail.

Linear and Nice are the same company. Nice, the Italian access and automation group, owns Linear. You will see this unit listed as a Linear 661, a Nice 661 or a Nice G.O. operator — all the same product. Linear MegaCode remotes and parts carry across.

Why this one

FeatureWhat it does
3-day battery backup Integrated rechargeable battery keeps the operator running for up to three days in a power cut. Nothing separate to buy or mount.
Nice G.O. app Open, close, check door status and operate the lighting from an iPhone or Android phone, from anywhere
WiFi and Bluetooth Both, so setup is straightforward and it joins your home network without fuss
Quiet DC motor Soft start and soft stop — smooth, and far quieter than an AC opener
LED lighting Energy efficient, long life, app controllable
Backlit wall controller Readable in a dark garage, with a WiFi connectivity status bar so you can see it is connected at a glance

Head unit only — no rail included. This is the motor that mounts to your existing rail. It is not a trackless or railless garage door system. If you are installing from scratch, or your rail is bent or worn, you need a complete opener with a rail — see residential garage door openers.

Linear LDCO863B · Linear LDCO801

The apps are not interchangeable. The 661 runs Nice G.O.; the LDCO863B runs Linear Smart. If you already have one of these on another door and want everything in one app, match the unit to the app you are using.

Replacing an older Linear opener?

The 661 mounts to the same rails as Linear's earlier head units, so if you are replacing an LDO50, LDO33, LSO50, LCO75, LDCO800, LDCO801, LDCO850 or LDCO852, this fits — and adds app control and battery backup at the same time. Your existing MegaCode remotes carry over.

Check the rail before ordering. A new head unit on a bent or worn rail will not last.

Common questions

Does it come with a rail? No. Head unit only. It mounts to the rail you already have.

Is this a trackless garage door? No. "No rail" means the opener ships without its drive rail because you are reusing yours. Your garage door keeps its normal tracks.

Does it have Bluetooth? Yes, WiFi and Bluetooth both.

How long does the battery last in a power cut? Up to three days of operation on the integrated rechargeable battery.

What app does it use? Nice G.O., on iOS and Android. Not the Linear Smart app — that one is for the LDCO863B.

Does it work with myQ? No. myQ is Chamberlain and LiftMaster. This uses Nice G.O.

Will my existing remotes work? Yes, if they are Linear MegaCode.

Is Nice the same as Linear? Yes. Nice owns Linear, and this unit appears under both names.

Do I need WiFi? For app control, yes. The opener works normally on the remote and wall control without it.
