Miller Edge C182-20B Coil Cord – 18 Gauge, 2 Conductor, 20 ft
The C182-20B is a coiled cable that carries the signal from a sensing edge on a moving door or gate leaf back to the fixed operator. The coil stretches as the leaf travels and retracts clear of the opening as it closes, so there is no loose cable to snag, chafe or get pinched.
Relaxed it sits compact; extended it reaches approximately 20 feet.
Two things to get right
1. Conductor count. A 2-wire monitored or non-monitored edge needs a 2-conductor cord. A 4-wire monitored edge needs a 4-conductor cord — see the comparison below.
2. Stretched length. Measure the full travel of the door or gate leaf, then allow slack so the coil is never pulled taut at full open. A cord stretched to its limit on every cycle will fail early.
Coil Cord Comparison
| Model | Gauge | Conductors | Stretched Length |
|---|---|---|---|
| C182-20B | 18 | 2 wire | 20 ft — this product |
| C184-12B | 18 | 4 wire | 12 ft |
| C222-15B | 22 | 2 wire | 15 ft |
Miller also builds 12 ft and 24 ft versions in 2, 3 and 4 conductor. Call (866) 965-5599 if you need a length not listed.
Coil Cord or Retracting Reel?
Both keep the sensing edge lead managed on a moving leaf. Which suits depends on travel distance and mounting space:
- Coil cord — simplest option, no enclosure, best for shorter travel and where there is room for the coil to hang.
- Retracting reel — spring-loaded cable in a metal enclosure. Better for longer travel and a tidier installation.
Live reel options: RR182-20M (18 ga, 2 wire, 20 ft), RR163-30M (16 ga, 3 wire, 30 ft), and RR164-20M (16 ga, 4 wire, 20 ft).
