Description

The LiftMaster 98032 is the heaviest-duty residential wall mount garage door opener made — a jackshaft opener that bolts beside the door and drives the torsion bar directly. It lifts doors up to 1,100 lbs, and it is the only UL 325 certified residential garage door opener capable of it.

RJO 98032 — LiftMaster pro channel exclusive. This model is sold only through LiftMaster's professional dealer channel, not through retail. That is why you will not find it in a big-box store.

Both are Elite Series wall mount openers and both fit the same way. The difference is what they will lift.

Profile 3 is the one that separates this opener from everything else — 850 to 1,100 lbs on a 5–6 inch drum. No other UL 325 certified residential opener covers it.

Wall mount, jackshaft, side mount — same thing

All three describe an opener that mounts on the wall next to the torsion bar rather than on the ceiling. "Jackshaft" is the trade term, "wall mount" is LiftMaster's, "side mount" is what most homeowners say.

A wall mount needs a torsion spring system. It drives the torsion bar, so it will not work on a door with extension springs along the horizontal tracks. Look above the door opening — a torsion system has a bar with springs wound onto it. Send us a photo if you would rather we checked.

What does RJO mean? It is the designation for LiftMaster's pro channel exclusive line. The 98032 is only sold through professional dealers, not retail.

Is 98032 the same as 98032MC? Yes. MC is the ordering suffix.

Do I need a torsion spring door? Yes. A wall mount drives the torsion bar, so extension-spring doors are not compatible.

Will it work on a vertical lift door? Yes — standard lift, high lift and vertical lift, on the 8 in. drum profile.

Does it need a cable tension monitor? No. That simplifies and speeds up the install compared with older wall mounts.

Does it have battery backup? Yes, integrated — which also satisfies the California and Washington requirement on residential openers.

How does the travel setup work? Automatically. Unlike other LiftMaster wall mounts, the 98032 determines the DOWN position itself. You set the UP position, press the adjust button, and it cycles the door to learn the rest.
