Genuine LiftMaster LA412DC — the primary 12VDC actuator arm for the LiftMaster LA412 solar swing gate operator, supplied as the arm only. It is the replacement for a worn or damaged arm on an existing LA412 system and the arm that comes in the LA412PKGU and LA412XL20W packages. The LA412 is still a current LiftMaster product: a 12VDC arm run from batteries charged by a solar panel, for driveways with no mains power at the gate.
12VDC only. The LA412DC works with the LA412 control box (LA412CONTUL or the XLSOLARCONTUL large metal box). It does not fit the 24VDC LA400 or LA500 control boxes — those take the LA400DC and LA500DC. For the second leaf of a dual LA412 gate order the LA412DCS secondary, which has the long lead.

UL 325. An LA412 installed today needs monitored entrapment protection on each leaf: the LMRRUL photo eye and a monitored edge (S505AL or the LMWEKITU wireless kit). Replacing the arm does not change that, but it is a good moment to bring an older installation up to date.
After fitting
Set the open and close limits, check the battery voltage under load and the panel output in sun, and run the obstruction test. A solar gate that has been slow was often running on tired batteries rather than a tired arm — check them before you blame the actuator.
Common questions
Is the LA412 discontinued?
No. LiftMaster still lists the LA412UL solar package. Arms, control boxes and panels remain available.
How many cycles a day will solar support?
LiftMaster rates the system for up to 50 cycles a day; the realistic figure depends on panel size, sun hours and how many remotes and accessories draw from the batteries. The 20 W package and the 33 Ah battery box exist for the busier or shadier sites.
Can I use an LA400 arm on my LA412?
No. The LA400 arm is 24VDC and the LA412 control box supplies 12VDC.
My LA412 is an early one — will this arm fit?
The arm design changed style; send us a photo of the existing arm and the control box before ordering and we will confirm the match.
