EMX USVD-4X Ultrasonic Vehicle Detector (EMX-2700-1) - Post-Mount, No Loop Required

EMX USVD-4X ultrasonic vehicle detector (EMX-2700-1) — a post-mounted vehicle presence sensor that does the job of an in-pavement loop without cutting the pavement. Four ultrasonic transducers in EMX’s Triangular Planar Array (TPA) layout aim at the lane and report a vehicle 1 to 5 ft in front of the sensor on two relay outputs.

Where it belongs. Drive-thru order points and pickup windows, car wash entries, bank and pharmacy lanes, parking and access-control points — anywhere a loop is impractical: concrete you cannot cut, a leased lot, a temporary lane, or a reader post that is already there.

What it is not. The USVD-4X is a presence and activation detector. It is not a UL 325 monitored entrapment-protection device, so it does not replace the photo eyes or safety edges on an automatic gate.

Installation notes

• Mount it on a post or the order box, aimed at the point where the vehicle stops, so the vehicle body sits inside the 1–5 ft window. Mounting height, aim and sensitivity are covered in the EMX manual.
• Use one relay for the operator or controller input and the second for a chime, light or counter.
• Power it from a 12–24 V supply — the operator’s accessory terminals or a separate transformer.

The DAK-USVD drive-thru alert kit (EMX-2800-1) bundles this detector with the CHIME-100 sound module and 25 ft of cable. The CHIME-100 is also sold on its own.
