DoorKing 1603 Auto-Spike Barrier Operator Replacement Parts

Genuine DoorKing replacement parts for the 1603 Auto-Spike barrier operator — the parking gate operator that drives a surface-mount traffic spike in step with the arm. The first part of this page covers the current 1603-380 (115V, 1/2 HP) and 1603-381 (with DC Convenience Open), built since 2021 (they replaced the 1603-180), plus the spike sections and extensions. The older 1603-080 is covered in its own clearly marked section further down. Within each table parts are listed in numeric part-number order; click any part number to go to that product.

Circuit Board — the most replaced part on the 1603

1601-010 — PCB, Parking Gate Operator

One control board fits the whole DoorKing barrier range — the 1601, 1602 and 1603. If the operator is dead after a storm, powers up but ignores every input, or no longer responds to a loop, card reader or remote, this is the part. There is no date-of-manufacture version of this board: order 1601-010 for any build.

Do not confuse it with 1601-018. That number is a pulley (4 in. OD, 5/8 in. bore), not a later version of the board.

Units with the Convenience Open option built before 2016 use the 1473-121 DC Convenience Open replacement kit — the part that raises the arm when AC power has failed. It is not used on units built from 2016 onward.

Which 1603 do you have? Check the data label inside the cabinet. The current 1603-380 / 1603-381 drives the spike through two #50 roller chains with machined turnbuckles, straight from the output shaft. The older 1603-080 has a transmission case bolted to the base with #40 chains inside. Most of the 1603-080 transmission parts are no longer available from DoorKing.

Traffic Spike Sections & Extensions

The spike assembly is built from 3 ft sections plus 18 in. extensions. Complete sections: the 3 ft surface-mount parking spike 1603-165; drive-side extensions 1603-168 (yellow) and 1603-169 (red), required to connect spike sections to the operator; and tunnel (spacer) extensions 1603-170 (yellow) and 1603-171 (red).

Parking Tunnel, Surface Mount 3 ft — 1603-193
