DoorKing 1895-049 is the factory cable for the lighted A-Z-CALL scroll buttons on a DoorKing 1802-EPD telephone entry system. DoorKing's own description is Cable, A-Z-CALL Lighted, EPD. On the 1802-EPD the A, Z and CALL buttons are a separate assembly from the numeric keypad, with their own cable back to the 1862-010 circuit board. When a scroll button goes dead or intermittent and the button assembly itself is good, this cable is the part that fixes it.
Which A-Z-CALL cable do I need?
- 1802-EPD with backlit (green-glowing) A, Z and CALL buttons → 1895-049, this cable.
- Older 1802-EPD with non-lighted A-Z-CALL buttons → DoorKing harness 1802-172 (ref 123 on the 1802-EPD parts breakdown), not this cable.
- 1834, 1835 or 1837 with lighted A-Z-CALL buttons → 1895-048, the 1830-series version of this cable.
- Standard 1802 (no directory display) has no A-Z-CALL buttons and does not use either cable.
- This is not the numeric keypad ribbon cable — that is 1804-038.
When to replace the 1895-049
- The A, Z or CALL button is dead or intermittent while the numeric keypad works normally.
- The A-Z-CALL button backlight is out while the keypad backlight still works — the button backlight is fed through the separate red lead on this cable.
- The cable was pinched, cut or had a connector damaged during a circuit board swap or faceplate service. The 1802 manual has you unplug the scroll-button cable every time the board comes out, so the plugs and crimps see real wear.
- You are finishing a lighted-keypad conversion with the 1895-060 retrofit kit and the cable was lost or damaged.
