Genuine DoorKing 1812-073 conversion kit — upgrades an older 1812 Classic telephone entry system to a 1812 Plus. The kit moves the unit from the Classic's 1871-010 circuit board to the Plus 1971-010 board, which adds the Plus features (more memory, DKS remote account management software and the expanded programming) without replacing the housing, keypad or wiring already on the wall.
Which 1812 do you have? Read the board number: 1871-010 is a Classic, 1971-010 is a Plus, 1970-010 is an Access Plus. This kit takes a Classic to Plus. To go to Access Plus, order the 1812-074. If you already have a Plus and simply need the board, order the 1971-010 on its own.

Is the board actually the problem?
The board is the most over-ordered part on a telephone entry system. Work down this list before you buy:
| Symptom | Check first |
|---|---|
| Display dead, no backlight | The 16.5 VAC transformer and the low-voltage surge suppressor before the board |
| Will not dial out | The phone line, or the cellular / VoIP adapter feeding it, before the board |
| Dials but no audio either way | Speaker, microphone and the volume settings before the board |
| Keypad dead or intermittent keys | The keypad ribbon and the keypad itself before the board |
| Dead after a storm | The board — and fit the surge suppressors with the new one |
After fitting
Re-enter the directory and programming from the DKS software or the keypad, set the relay times and re-test the postal lock and each relay output before leaving.
Fit surge protection when you fit the board. DoorKing makes a 1878-010 low-voltage surge suppressor for the 16.5 VAC side and a 1876-010 high-voltage suppressor for the line side. A board that died in a storm will die again without them.
