Ramset RAM 30-30 Swing Gate Operator Parts

Ramset RAM 30-30 swing gate operator (gate opener) replacement parts diagram

Ramset RAM 30-30 Swing Gate Operator Replacement Parts

Genuine Ramset replacement parts for the RAM 30-30 swing gate operator, listed against the factory parts diagram above. Find the reference number on the drawing, match it in the table below and click the part number to order. The torque limiter and arm assembly are broken down separately, so you can buy a complete assembly or just the one component inside it that failed.

The RAM 30-30 is the heavy-duty machine in the Ramset swing range — rated to 20 foot gates at 3,000 lbs, with a 2 1/8" output shaft riding in pillow block bearings and a #50 drive chain. If you know it as a Ramset R3030 or RAM 3030 gate opener rather than an operator, it is the same unit.

Two versions — check your motor first. The RAM 30-30 was built in 3/4 HP and 1 HP ratings, and they differ only in the motor and how the machine is powered:

3/4 HP — 120V single phase, motor 800-04-12 at reference 3, with the outlet/switch combo at reference 21.
1 HP — 220V single phase, motor 800-04-13 at reference 4, with the 220VAC power switch at reference 20.

Everything else on this page fits both. The voltage is set at the factory and cannot be changed in the field.

Torque limiter part number. The printed manual lists the torque limited sprocket assembly as 800-75-11. That number is actually the R300 cover assembly — the correct RAM 30-30 torque limiter is 800-75-42, which is what reference 32 links to below.

Torque Limited Sprocket Assembly — 800-75-42

Components supplied inside the torque limiter. This is the RAM 30-30's force-limiting clutch and the friction discs are a wear item, so it is usually cheaper to rebuild it than to replace the whole assembly.

Common Ramset RAM 30-30 Faults and the Parts That Fix Them

Most calls we take about the RAM 30-30 come down to one of the following. Work through them in the order given — the cheap checks come first on purpose.

Gate runs past the open or closed position, or will not stop

Gate travel on the RAM 30-30 is set by two large limit cams clamped to the output shaft (ref 14). Loosen them to adjust. Check the limit switches (ref 12) first, then look for a cam that has slipped — on a 3,000 lb gate the inertia will move a cam that is not properly tightened.

Parts: 800-20-03 · 800-48-03

Gate stops on light contact, or has lost holding force

That is the torque limiter (ref 32). Its two friction discs wear and the tension washer relaxes. Rebuild it from the breakdown above — the discs and washer together cost a fraction of the complete assembly. Do not over-tighten it to compensate for a gate that is binding.

Parts: 800-26-02 · 800-26-11 · 800-58-12 · 800-75-42

Knob release will not free the gate

The RAM 30-30 releases by lever: remove the cap, lift the release handle and push the gate open. The clamp release (ref 15) is what grips the shaft, and the two knobs (refs 28 and 29) are what wear or go missing. Always kill power at the breaker before using the release.

Parts: 800-50-05 · 800-70-35 · 800-70-36

Motor runs but the gate is slow, jerky or does not move

Check the 4L-360 belt (ref 8) and its two pulleys (refs 6 and 7) first, then the #50 drive chain (ref 16) and its sprocket (ref 5). The 60:1 gear reducer (ref 2) is the expensive part — rule out the belt and chain before ordering it. Also check the pillow block bearings (ref 13) on the output shaft for play.

Parts: 800-10-30 · 800-08-05 · 800-52-12 · 800-44-02 · 800-02-08

Nothing happens, or the gate runs a couple of feet and reverses

No lights at all means the transformer (ref 19) or a blown fuse; on the 1 HP machine also check the 220V power switch (ref 20). If it runs then reverses, that is the ERD reading an obstruction — on a 3/4 HP unit set dip switch B8 on, and check the gate swings freely before touching sensitivity. If the wall button works but the remote does not, it is the radio receiver terminal (ref 30).

Parts: 800-60-00 · 800-60-11 · 800-62-00 · 800-64-00 · 800-70-55

None of this is a substitute for a service call on a gate that is binding, dragging or hitting its posts. A mechanical problem in the gate will destroy whichever part you fit — and on a 3,000 lb gate it will do it faster.

Other Ramset Swing Gate Operator Parts

The RAM 30-30 shares its arm assembly and control board with the rest of the Ramset swing range, but its chassis, output shaft, torque limiter and #50 chain are unique to it. If you are not certain which unit you have, check the label inside the cover.

Ramset part numbers all begin 800- and are stamped or labelled on most major components. If the number on your part has worn off, match it visually against the diagram above and confirm the reference number rather than going by the description alone — several Ramset gate openers use similar looking parts in different sizes.
