I got 2 remote units for my wife and I. Programming was simple and took virtually no time at all. We bought this home a few months ago and just had the keypad, I contacted the local company who installed the door for the previous owners and they were not sure which remote I would need and offered to "fix me up" with universal remotes that were more than double the price from gatehouse! In fact I was paying so much less that I opted for the most expensive shipping in order to get these before Western PA cold set in, and still paid about $20 less than buying from the local "experts"!

We got a new Subaru Outback last week, and realized when we got home that it didn't have Homelink as did the Outback we traded in. We had a remote for our other car, so it was easy to plug in the model number of that remote into Google. The first stuff that came up was the "universal" remotes, for around $50. That seemed like a high price, so we kept looking and found that Gatehouse carries the specific replacement remote for our 15-year-old door-opener, for less than half of the universal-remote price. It arrived in a few days, so we followed the instructions that came with it, and it was totally useful in about 5 minutes (it took us 4 minutes to get the ladder out and up to the opener, since we're in our late 60's ;).
